It's Caitlin's tea time and all was going well until Daddy styled her hair …
Tea Time
March 7th, 2010Brimham Rocks
March 7th, 2010As the weather was nice today we went for a walk at Brimham rocks rather than heading over to Nottingham and the National Student Rodeo. We even finally got around to joining the National Trust.
I am trying to play with HDR photography at the moment but not having a lot of success! Here are a few standard photos from the day (A few of these may get HDRed at some point.)
I must be mad
February 17th, 2010For some strange and unknown reason I have entered the Great North Run again.
Not only have I entered for 2010 I have signed up for a guaranteed place for 2010, 2011 and 2012! So does this mean I am a convert to running, well no … I still don't like it and it still isn't fun (no really it isn't) but having spent 3 months laid up not being able to do anything I now have some weight to drop and fitness to get back so that I can do the things I do enjoy like riding my bike and paddling my boat. So anyway the aim before 2012 is to get a sub 2hr half marathon done and then I really can hang up my running shoes for good!
So as soon as my butt is healed properly it'll by trainers on, iPod in and off we go for some proper training.
Caitlin’s Christening
January 21st, 2010We have finally got around to having Caitlin christened … we had a nice service at St Georges Church (where Sarah and I got married) and nibbles and beer afterwards at the Park Inn in York.
I think this just about sums up our little girl!
Caitlin’s First Christmas
January 2nd, 2010This year was Caitlin's first christmas … as was expected she was more interested in the wrapping paper and boxes than the presents … not that that stopped everyone spoiling her! The biggest hit of the festive season was the tags on the presents!

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
November 5th, 2009Every year my Dad very kindly takes me to a Formula 1 race. This year was no exception, apart from the fact that rather than choosing a European race he decided we should go to Abu Dhabi. The race at the Yas Marina Circuit was brand new on the calendar and the season finale, so was set to be an exciting one.

Hamsterland (A.K.A Descend Hamsterley)
October 12th, 2009This Sunday Ian, Cat and I headed over to Descend Hamsterley to go downhilling. I haven’t really been on my bike for a while and a brief outing at Llandegla a few weeks ago had confirmed my rustiness. I certainly haven’t ridden anything steep since Les Gets / Morzine in summer 2008 so was a little apprehensive to say the least.
The uplift at Hamsterley is fantastic. For a mere £20 you and your bike get a lift from the bottom to the top 10 times so none of that nasty uphill peddling lark; It was even better for me as this was my birthday present from Ian, cheers dude. The weather was glorious although there had been rain overnight and there was a little moisture in the air when we arrived.
Asterisk Config – Attempt 1
October 9th, 2009My first attempt at configuring Asterisk has finally been a success. I have started out with the sample configurations and have then emptied and re-written extensions.conf and sip.conf to setup my SIP users and dialplan … I have the following:

Les Gets – Summer 2008
October 7th, 2009I’ve dug this up from an old blog of mine. Things have changed a little since then … we didn’t get to Les Gets, or anywhere else for that matter, mountain biking this year. Instead we had a baby who is very cute but not so downhill mountain biking friendly … wouldn’t change things for the world though ….

Asterisk 1.6 on Ubuntu Server
October 6th, 2009There is a lot of information on t’interweb about installing Asterisk on lot’s of different distributions of linux. However quite often they contradict each other and it seemed that most were written about version 1.4 rather than the lastest stable release 1.6. I don’t think I could have got to where I am now without this guide so fair play to Riccardo. So this is what I have done, it may not be the best way to do it, it may not be right, but it seems to work … or at least install anyway!
