Day 8 – Carbon Fibre

This is my Werner Powerhouse. It is made from carbon fibre and is an absolute joy to paddle with and look at!

It is a 197, Neutral Bent Shaft which gives me plenty of reach when in my big boat … it is a little too long for playboating, but I don't really get much chance to do that these days so still use my 194 glass fibre sidekick for playing. It is a slightly special sidekick in that it is on a neutral bent carbon shaft rather than the newer neutral bent glass shaft, I don't think you can get these anymore but I don't like the neutral bent glass shaft so if / when I replace them it will be with a full carbon set … I may even go shorter for playing.

All my paddling kit comes from Desperate Measures who have recently launched their brand new website with online ordering. You can still give them a ring on 0115 981 6815 if you need any help with your purchase and if you need something for Christmas the boys can sort you out even up to the 23rd December

New Baby

Today we had our 12 week scan and are therefore allowed to tell people that we are having another baby. All being well baby will arrive on the 11th June 2011 but if she is anything like Caitlin we won't be expecting her until near the end of June!

I say she because I think it's a girl … Sarah is convinced it is a boy, we'll find out at the 20 week scan if baby is forthcoming enough.

Day 5 – Wood

This morning I took my camera and tripod to work, in the dark, with every intention of going out at lunchtime to get my shot for the day. Work had other ideas and home time, and darkness, came and I hadn't even got my camera out let alone got a shot. So I started thinking about what I could take a picture of at home. Cailtin has a lot of wooden toys, this is mainly because we think they are so much nicer than plastic ones. We also have some lovely Oak furniture that we got as a treat when we moved house.

The picture doesn't capture the grain of the wood as well as I would have liked, but maybe in a few months time if I take the same shot it'll capture what I see better.
