Week 2 – Paddling Pool

All this nice weather meant we got Caitlin's paddling pool out a few days in a row. Getting pictures of Caitlin is quite difficult if she know you are there so I felt like the paparazzi getting these.

Must remember not to cut her head of in future though!

Doctor Who Season 6

Doctor Who Season 6 or season 32 depending on how you like your numbers starts this Easter. The Doctor is back and I for one am excited. Matt Smith is growing on me. I'm not so sure about Karen Gillan but she is at least cute! We'll have to see where the new writers and the BBC take it this season.

A Good Weekend Racing

It's been a good weekends racing … silver to start and 'rocket red' to finish!

Well done Lewis (P1) and Button (P4). On to Turkey now where hopefully the Red Bull dominance will not return. Note to self must get a new black top before Silverstone!

Sunar Bangla

It seems that for some reason I get a lot of traffic from the search engines for the search phrase 'Sunar Bangla Opening Times'. As Sunar Bangla don't have a website I thought I may as well furnish you all with the details. Sunar Bangla is one of the best curry houses I have been to in a very long time. It is in the old ticket office at Church Fenton station and as such doesn't look like much from the outside. Don't let this put you off the inside is well decorated, clean and you are always welcomed by the friendly staff. The food is fantastic whether you are a seasoned curry lover or a bit of a curry weakling there is something for you. If you aren't sure just ask and they'll sort you out.

You'll find Sunar Bangla at 'Church Fenton Station, Station Road, Church Fenton, Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, LS24 9RA' and you can phone them on 01937 557 738. Opening times are Sunday – Thursday: 5:30pm to 11:30pm, Friday – Saturday: 5:30pm to midnight, Monday: Closed.

Sunar Bangla … try it … you will like it!

Week 1 – Playing in the Park

For the first week of my project I decided to take some pictures of my little girl in the park. She mostly refused to stay still for long enough to take any photo's let alone any good ones!

She finally stayed still on the roundabout but would only smile when there wasn't a camera pointed at her. Puts her grumpy looking school photograph into perspective … if I can't get her to smile for the camera how is a random school photographer going to manage it!

This look was combined with the response 'No Daddy' when asked to smile for the camera!

She did finally smile on the 'boingy seesaw thingy' but needed a Gan Gan to stop her falling off the back when she got over excited! I didn't get any more photos due to the need to be ready to catch her at all times. Turns out she thinks she is now big enough for the big swings, the big slide and the big climbing frame … all without any grown up help!

Project 52 – Starts Here

So this week I am going to start taking 1 picture or 1 set of pictures a week and posting them here. The plan is to be done and post up every Sunday so the first set of photos should be here on Sunday (24th April 2011). I don't know what it will be yet, but am going out for a wander at lunchtime for some inspiration.

Photomatix is Magic

I shall be getting a copy when I have some money! This is a HDR image that I took in Italy. It is greatly lacking in 'shadows' detail for the sky (I think anyway) but still comes out quite well (I think!).

HDR Photography Again

Whilst in France on a fairly chilled out family holiday I spent some time reading more about HDR photography. I've been trying to get some nice HDR shots for a while and so far they have been fairly underwhelming. I have before now been using the auto-bracketing mode on my camera and using Photoshop to try and process the results. Turns out I may not have been making life entirely easy for myself.

I re-read 2 books that I had scanned over previously firstly there is 'A World In HDR' by Trey Ratcliff and secondly 'Practical HDR' by David J Nightingale. I took 2 points from these 2 books that I had maybe not fully appreciated the first time I read them.
